MoneyManager Simpler communication with your cash handling peripherals

Problem

A new cash replacement smart card system was being developed and there was a requirement to incorporate a range of cash handling devices. There are common standards of communication, such as ccTalk, but each unit has slightly different needs. The customer wanted a simple interface to select the necessary cash device and for all the required set up code and interface requirements to be completed automatically.

A deceptively challenging project, but as Heber have been involved in vending and cash handling systems for over 25 years we recognised that we could design a new software supplement to run on our existing products.

Solution

Heber developed a software supplement for our real time control boards.This new software driver uses a simple graphical user interface to allow the client to simply choose a cash device in their system code and which takes care of the lower level requirements of the communication protocol. In addition the supplement can be used with Heber’s Nucleus, a range of integrated PC control products. There is now a development kit available, which consists of a secure PIC and a library CD. The Money Manager add-on facility (a specific PIC) attracts an small additional cost over the board cost (X10i or Nucleus N500/N1000).

Conclusion

As a result of a Heber’s broader understanding of money management and software capability, we were able to develop a software plug-in to make the job of incorporating cash handling devices easier for the customer.
