Axis Software User Manual
One Wire Interface
The Axis hardware includes two one wire interfaces. The one wire interfaces connect to:
- a unique serial number chip on the Axis main board
- an iButton® option on the Axis backplane
The serial number chip has a 48 bit identifier that can be used to identify specific Axis boards.
An iButton® can be optionally fitted on the backplane by the customer.
The Axis driver offers a simple interface to read these devices via entries in the /proc file system. The driver creates two entries:
/proc/axis_00/ibutton
and
/proc/axis_00/serial_number
These can be read as if they are normal files and they output a text representation of the serial number.
