New investment in gaming product development

One of the foundation stones of Heber is the gaming market and with 30 years’ experience in gaming, it continues to be a focus for product development and innovation within the company. We are really proud that we have sold more than 2.8m electronic control systems to the global gaming industry. And even in the current economic climate, we believe it is important to continue to develop products for this key market.

Our engineers have therefore been busy undertaking new product development activity with the established X10i product to enhance its functionality and flexibility – whilst maintaining its value for money.

The popular USB interface allows Windows or Linux equipped PCs to control, measure, interface and monitor external equipment and components.  With over 20+ man years of software development in the code, drivers and API functions, the X10i has long provided the gaming industry with complete gaming I/O.

The additional functionality now provides extended back up time of 180 days on its non-volatile memory. Changes to the X10i’s software also now enable a flexible call back mechanism to relieve the application of polling tasks, improving functionality.

Finally the X10i can now function as a stand-alone controller, for example working as a protocol converter, rather than being connected to a PC which improves flexibility of use.

Richard Horne, Heber Commercial Director, is confident that the new controller will delight current and new customers alike:

“We would like to ensure that the gaming market is part of our long term strategy for growth. With the continued development of the X10i, we believe we can offer the gaming sector flexible, added value products that support customers’ aims in the changing global market.”

“The continued investment in the X10i is very important to us. We will be considering further developments for the X10i and other initiatives. We have been discussing in more detail the longer term requirements of customers for electronics and we look forward to developing more innovative solutions in the months and years ahead.”
