Meet the engineering team
Heber has long had a reputation in the industry for excellence in design and engineering. This month, we meet the team behind the brand – Heber’s engineering team.
The team are led by William Gardiner, Heber’s Technical Director. William has the honour of being the longest serving member of the engineering team, bringing a wealth of technical and engineering expertise and guidance to the team. William is currently sharing that expertise having recently become a committee member of the Cirencester Science and Technology Society and is delighted to be inspiring others to become involved in science and technology in the local area.
Built over a number of years, William is justifiably proud of the current team and the broad skill sets and experience team members share.
Andrew Gardiner (no relation to boss William!) is a Hardware Engineer and is celebrating his 10th anniversary at the Mill. Andrew develops circuit design and PCB layout across the entire Heber product range – from specification to the finished product. Andrew is currently developing his skill set further as he undertakes a BEng degree as part of Heber’s student sponsorship programme.
Nigel Brown has been at Heber for 6 years as a Product Support Engineer and is also our resident baker for company events! Supporting the internal teams as well as customers, with a high level and wide range of technical expertise, Nigel relishes being able to provide technical solutions and support to them all. Nigel is particularly interested in the “Internet of Things” at present and is a passionate supporter of Raspberry Pi and its ability to help nurture engineers of the future.
Software engineer John Shee has been writing control programs for white goods and software for gaming platforms since joining Heber in 2006. The variety of projects and breadth of opportunity has provided John with a great career experience at Heber – added to by the beautiful environment at the Mill! When not at Heber, John enjoys walking and has covered much of the Cotswold Way and the local canal network – which John says he particularly loves as it is flat!
With a role that straddles the engineering and product management functions, Mark Perkins (Product Manager), has an interesting perspective within Heber allowing him to apply technology to client issues. Mark believes that the gaming sector is an interesting place to be right now, particularly in translating consumer technology into product solutions such as using touch screen technology to deliver a different approach for gaming consumers. Away from Heber, Mark is a keen golfer and promoter of young talent in a different field; managing local youth football team Minchinhampton Rangers YFC.
Keen runner and cyclist, Jamil Stevens designs software and hardware for Heber as an Engineer working across the entire product range. Jamil particularly likes the small family environment which he says makes Heber a very friendly place to work. Outside of work, Jamil is working up to undertaking a half marathon in the near future.
The newest member of the engineering team is Graciela Delgado, Engineer. Graciela left her native Canary Isles following an MSc in industrial electronics and engineering to pursue her career in the UK. A member of the engineering team since January, Graciela is focusing on writing software and design and testing. She says the transition to Heber has been made easy due to the people and the varied and challenge nature of her role. Graciela is currently planning her wedding which will be in Tenerife later in the year.
